After your donations made such an incredible impact last year, alongside our parish family at the Holy Name of Mary, we have been asked to continue supporting The Genesis Project: a charity who supports children, young people and families in our local area. It might be surprising to know that some wards not even a mile away from our school are ranked in the top 1% most socially deprived wards in England. This has only been exacerbated for many families due to the coronavirus pandemic and the recent financial crisis.

The Genesis Project finds that people value a safe space to meet and for their children to socialise, free from the negative influences around them. Genesis is able to provide this and word of mouth helps to spread the good news that this is available across the estate. Parents and older young people enjoy volunteering, making a positive difference, whilst gaining confidence & new skills.

We would like to collect essential items to aid The Genesis Project in their mission. We have been asked to specifically collect tinned meats, tinned vegetables, toilet rolls and laundry tabs and/or powder. Anything that is in multipacks will be split by The Genesis Project themselves.

On the first Wednesday of each month (or later if school holidays so require), we will set up a table with a collection box at the entrance of the school gates. This will then be taken to our church and parishioners will take all of our donations to The Genesis Project. Our collection dates will be as follows:

  • Wednesday 9th November
  • Wednesday 7th December
  • Wednesday 11th January
  • Wednesday 1st February
  • Wednesday 1st March
  • Wednesday 19th April
  • Wednesday 3rd May
  • Wednesday 7th June
  • Wednesday 5th July

A text reminder will be sent out in advance each time. If you would like to know more about The Genesis Project, they have their own Facebook page. (Search @genesisgrovehill or The Genesis Project Middlesbrough to find them.)
