We are very proud to be able to announce that we are a CAFOD LiveSimply school!

 

We launched this journey in Summer 2022 and, after an assessment, received the award in Spring 2023. Four of our Laudato Si’ Leaders were interviewed as part of the assessment and were able to explain not only what actions we undertook but, most importantly, why it is important for us as a Catholic community to do these things.

Thank you to our Laudato Si’ Leaders for motivating us to live more simply, sustainably and in solidarity.

Thank you to our children in school for carrying out God’s work.

Thank you to our parents, carers and parish for supporting us throughout our journey.

What is the LiveSimply award?

The LiveSimply award is earned by communities and schools who can show how they have been living:

• Simply
• Sustainably with creation
• In solidarity with people in poverty

The award celebrates what you have already done and inspires you to do more. It helps your community to live, not just more simply, but also more fully.

 

What have we done?

Alongside a number of other initiatives, we have:

• Begun to design and construct a prayer and sensory garden
• Encouraged people to use less petrol during ‘Wheel Walk to School Day’
• Had a Fair Trade stall
• A LiveSimply pledge wall, working for the Common Good as a whole community
• Launched a charitable initiative for each class/year group
• Supported CAFOD’s Big Lent Walk appeal

What does this mean now?

Whilst we are so proud that we have achieved this award, our hard work does not stop now; it has only just begun! We know that, until the world is good enough for EVERYONE, then it is not good enough!

We must continue putting our faith into action, guided by the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, and SEE the problems in our world, JUDGE what to do and ACT to solve the problem.
